Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has revealed that Power Star Pawan Kalyan has donated Rs 2 crore for relief work in Chennai after incessant rains lashed the city causing floods.
Mahesh Babu, Junior NTR, Allu Arjun and a host of other Telugu actors donated large amounts to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's relief fund last week. But Power Star Pawan Kalyan kept mum on the issue, which surprised many in the industry. His fans were eagerly waiting to hear about his generous donation
Pawan Kalyan is said to have already donated Rs 2 crore to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's relief fund, but he has not made it public. Last night, Ram Gopal Varma took to his Twitter handle to salute him for his kind gesture. In a series of tweets, he said that the actor's donation is greater than Rajinkanth giving Rs 10 crore.
Ram Gopal Varma tweeted, "Extremely happy to hear that P K donated 2 cr to chennai victims..I salute this extraordinary gesture..This is what is the Power of a Star P k gvng 2 cr is more than R K giving 10 cr becos R K doing to his people whereas P K is doing to different on humanitarian considerations pawan kalyan giving 2 cr to chennai tragedy is proof his concern is for human tragedy across states which justifies his adulation for Che Guevara This just proves that Power Star has 20 times more sympathy towards human tragedy than the Super Star (sic)"
Ram Gopal Varma had recently taken digs at leading south Indian actors for their meagre donations for Chennai relief work. On 3 December, the filmmaker tweeted, "Celebs give quintals of prayers and tonnes of love, but very very few rupees because prayers and love are cheap and money costs money I wonder why Rajnikant dint do anything to stop the rain?"
